ATHENS HISTORY 1944, 14 October

CLICK TO VIEW ACTUAL PHOTO SIZE

After the victory of allied troops, the Germans abandoned Athens without battle, on 14 October 1944, and on the 18th of the same month the Greek flag was situated again in Acropolis. Returning from the Middle East where it was found during the possession, G. Papandreou undertook the government of the country. However Athens and the harbour of Piraeus had suffered material destructions, make that rendered difficult the supply with types of first need.
