The Protocol of London in 22 January 1830 fixed the independence of Greece and the foundation of modern Greek state with capital the Nauplium. However the Citadel remained in the property of the Turks until March 1833, when the Turkish guard delivered Athens and the Greek flag was raised in the Parthenon from the first Christian chief soldier, naval officer Christian Neezer.
