Ceramic artefacts are used as architectural components, which may be functional or ornamental (antefixes, chimneypots, consoles, inset tiles), or as household utensils (jugs, jars, plates, lamps, incense burners). The material is terracotta or faience, and is used plain, glazed or coloured with different materials.
Plate of so-called Rhodian ware depicting a ship. Used for decoration in the houses in Rhodes and the Dodecanese generally. (Inv. no. 15241)
