In the morning of 28 October 1940 the ambassador of Italy, after the order of the Italian dictator Mousolini, delivered a letter to the I. Metaxa, asking if he allows the passage of Italian troops from Greece. I. Metaxa rejected the request with the well known “ NO” and denied the delivery of Greece to Italy. Thus the Greek-Italian War begun and the events were established as national anniversary.
